the main road in my neighborhood, left to right featuring: 13th century galata tower, the tram line that runs through the european part of the city, a hint of the park outside my apartment, an old armory and some fortress walls.

    looks like you are really in the midst of the city. what is current population of Istanbul? know it was bigger than los angeles when we were there 16 years ago. and where do you go to get away from the intensity of the city?

      funny you should mention getting away – i went out of town to a very weird spot this weekend. more reports (and a long email) to come!

      oh, and the current population without squatters is around 14 million, i believe…
