i woke this morning laughing – cracking up – thinking about the surprise 2 am skype call i received from those awesome CAVS last night! they are my favorite, hands down.

then off to süleymaniye camii for a stroll

and i found istanbul’s googley eye district! MUST incorporate into professional, real-world research
(this is right next to the copper-works district…don’t ask me why)

…it will become a needlepointed backgammon table designed with minarets from the 5 former capital cities within turkey as a stylistic comparison and reference to turkish craftwork skill.
plus it will keep me occupied in this rainy, cold weather.

it will be wayyy more detailed, and things got a little squished in the middle
but isn’t that the quirkiness of turkey anyway?
(in no particular order: istanbul, edirne, konya, iznik, bursa + it’s current capital, ankara, too)
